Barcelona City Guide
Barcelona is an amazing city! From the architecture to the beaches to the fresh fruit in the markets to the friendly people, Barcelona has an undeniable vibe. We loved the laid back feel during the day and party atmosphere at night! Barcelona offers everything you could want in a getaway. Read on to discover the highlights from our visit to this city and why it stole our hearts.
Barcelona is world renowned for its unique architecture. Every street you walk down you always find some amazing building to stare in awe at. Antoni Gaudi is almost solely responsible for all of the incredible buildings in Barcelona. The top two being La Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell. These two rank as the most visited tourist sights in Barcelona. Unfortunately, we never made it up to Parc Guell but we did go gawk at the Sagrada Familia.
We were not able to go inside this monstrous church because all of the tours were sold out and there were no more tickets available during our time in the city. This was heartbreaking so learn from our mistake and book your tickets in advance!
Another famous landmark in Barcelona is Casa Batllo, which is another masterpiece designed by Gaudi. We actually stumbled upon this gem while wandering the streets at night trying to find our way back to our hostel. It was magical all lit up in the dark!
Everywhere we went in Barcelona was a party! From the beaches to the markets and the parks to the restaurants everyone was always friendly and welcoming. It made our time spent here really seem like a vacation! My favourite ways to let go and relax was definitely with a glass of sangria (or two... or three... I was on vacation!) and some delicious tapas! Our favourite spots to eat were Txapelis (for tapas) and Bosque Palermo (for amazing paella).
Speaking of the party vibe, another highlight was watching the Magic Fountain show! Set up on the hill in front of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya it is a sight to be seen. It's a fabulous light show in the fountains that is set along to upbeat Spanish music. I could've watched forever. It was so romantic!
It was the perfect way to spend our last night in Barcelona. We enjoyed this city so much and I am sure we will revisit one day and explore the rest of Spain. So much to see and so little time!
